- Axolotl / Mexican walking fish/ Ambystoma mexicanum
These funny looking cute organisms although known as walking fish are actually amphibians.Currently they fall under the critically endangered species. Also known as the king of regeneration, this animal can regenerate its eyes, limbs, tail, heart and even its brain.
2. Idiacanthus atlanticus/ Black dragon fish
Idiacanthus atlanticus is found circumglobally in southern subtropical and temperate oceans between latitudes 25°S and 60°E, at depths down to 2,000 metres (6,600 ft). This scary looking deep sea fish can produce its own light through biolumniscence.It is believed that the fish can use these lights to attract prey and even signal potential mates.
3. Blob fish
Declared as the ugliest creature on earth this fish inhabits the deep waters of Australia , New Zealand etc.The blobfish flesh is basically a gelatinous mass with a density slightly less than water; this allows the fish to float above the seafloor without expending energy on swimming.A smart but lazy looking fish.
4. Giant Isopods
These giant isopods dwell in the deep oceans and are really scary . They are also known as deep sea scavengers as they feed on dead carcasses. Creepy and scary at the same time. They can survive without eating for a long time as they usually tend to eat to a point that their mobility is compromised.
5. Stargazer
These sea creatures bury themselves in sand and attack themselves as a prey swims by. They are poisonous, and can stun the prey by giving electric shocks.
6. Colossal squid
The Colossal Squid is the largest squid species, growing up to 12–14 m (39–46 ft) long. It is also the largest known invertebrate.
7. Angler fish

A really scary looking fish ,one which could star in horror movies.Angler fish are carnivorous and most adult female ceratioid anglerfish have a luminescent organ called the esca at the tip of a modified dorsal ray (the illicium or fishing rod). The organ has been hypothesized to serve the obvious purpose of luring prey in dark, deep-sea environments, but also serves to call males’ attention to the females to facilitate mating.
8. Vampire Squid

The squid has large eyes in comparison to the proportion of its body, and it’s not named vampire because it sucks blood. The vampire squid actually gets its name from the cloak like skin and large eyes.
9. Sarcastic Fringehead

This fish is harmless to humans, But when agitated it open it’s huge mouth to scare off predators. It is a defence tactic adopted by the fish and is really scary.
10.Spiny Crab

Lithodes maia also known as he spiny crab are predators with sharp sines all over their body. They are boreal deepwater crabs and normally dwell at depths more than 200ft.
These are 10 freakiest, scariest, oddest, cutest and creepiest looking sea creatures. But at the same time these are also some of the rarest species found on earth.
